MEET OUR GUEST SPEAKER

Kelli Rasler Miller’s first husband, Galen Rasler, was diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia at the age of 27. Out of 6,000 cancer patients, one would have CML. Typically, it is found in males over the age of 60 and the prognosis requires managing the disease for years after diagnosis. Upon the initial news it could be cancer, Galen and Kelli began to realize they, and their young and growing family, were on a journey of faith as they walked through the valley of what ifs.

Galen’s journey of cancer wasn’t a typical one, however, a community of friends, family and church support would exponentially grow for the next 5-1/2 years for Galen’s new “normal”.

On January 26, 2020, six weeks before Covid, Galen unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack leaving Kelli a widow with 4 young children ages 7 to 1. Her story of heartache and impossible circumstances wasn’t enough to cancel God’s character, provision and steadfast faithfulness to her and her children. Through her vulnerability and honesty about the pain, the Church rallied around her family and walked her through the valley of the shadow of death. After experiencing that kind of loss, she found that the only hope she had was in Jesus and the only answers to her most raw questions could be found in the Bible.

In 2007, as a college senior at Bethel University studying to be a teacher, Kelli wrote in her journal that she wanted to, “one day publicly share about why others should have a hope in Jesus and that He is worth trusting.” While the desire of Kelli’s heart was pure, never did she think that such an opportunity would be because of her husband’s cancer diagnosis and his later unexpected passing. Yet, God continues to redeem and restore the pain through truth and support of Christian community. Today, she is passionate about taking the hope of Jesus to the hurting in our world and exhorting the Church that being the “hands and feet” is kingdom work. Kelli’s story will bring tears and laughter through stories of struggle and triumph. God’s faithfulness is played out as Kelli moves the audience through her journey of what’s ifs, to even ifs to the declaration that through it all Jesus wins.

Kelli resides in Goshen, Indiana, with her now husband, Aaron. Together, they have five kids and attend Grace Community Church. Kelli graduated from Bethel University with a middle school teaching degree. Her years educating in front of 8th graders has given her a bit of a fearless spirit when it comes to public speaking. Kelli has been asked to write articles and speak at local groups to share her testimony of God’s redeeming work. She helps run a local widows ministry through Never Alone Widows and has created a retreat for widows with fatherless children called ‘Redeem the Day’. When she isn’t busy ubering their kids to their activities, Kelli enjoys gardening, being outside, working out, and listening to podcasts.
